Day 1 – Arrival

This morning you will be met on your arrival into Cape Town International Airport and warmly welcomed to South Africa. You will receive your travel documentation and be assisted to your awaiting coach. Transfer to your hotel for overnight.

Accommodation: Cape Town Hollow on the Square, a carbon neutral, energy-efficient and environmentally friendly hotel! Breakfast is included daily at this delightful oasis in the heart of Capetown, within walking distance of the V&A Waterfront. The on-site restaurant, with a European street café flair, is driven by a passionate creative chef. The Hotel prides itself in its enthusiastic staff who constantly strive to exceed guests expectations, and the rooms are welcoming, with every convenience. Vegan/Vegetarian options are available.

Day 2

Internationally Acclaimed Cape Winelands – After breakfast this morning you will depart for a full day tour of the Cape Winelands. Spend a day celebrating this delightful area of great scenic beauty.

Today you get to see the rare white lions of South Africa! Your first stop this morning is the the powerful Drakenstein Lion Park, where you will take a guided tour. This lion sanctuary was established so lions could live in safety and be treated with compassion and the respect they deserve. The park is actively involved in improving the quality of life of lions in captivity locally as well as internationally. The park is not involved in commercial breeding or trade and offers a lifetime of care to all of its animals. The Drakenstein Park is now also home to ‘Chimp Haven’, a facility built to house the animals displaced by the closure of the Tygerberg Zoo and is a lifetime home to chimpanzees and a host of other small animals.

Your next stop is the Warwick Wine Estate (or similar) for a wine tasting. Warwick Estate is a family-owned and run winery. Managing Director Michael Ratcliffe is the 3rd generation to oversee this delightful boutique wine estate.

Head out to your next wine route stop, at the Delair Graff Wine Estate, where you will enjoy a set lunch menu, followed by a wine tasting at the estate – to taste 3 wines at Delair Graff – additional tastings can be purchased direct. You will not only appreciate the top quality wines but the surrounding beauty of the estate and the art throughout the estate grounds and main areas will enthrall you! The estate is described as ‘one of the most aesthetically interesting contemporary art destinations in the world’! The personally curated collection has been a lifelong passion of Laurence Graff, who continues to discover promising South African artists.

Late that afternoon, you will stop in at the town of  Stellenbosch before heading back to your hotel late  that afternoon for overnight.

The charming University town of Stellenbosch has a  lovely collection of shops and galleries and an old  world charm quaintness that is captivating.

Pop into ‘Oom Samie se Winkel’ – the oldest trading  store in South Africa, then it’s back to Cape Town Hollow for another wonderful evening with views of the spectacular mountains.

Day 3

Cape Town’s Attractions – This morning once again after breakfast, you will head out on a full day sightseeing tour of Cape Town’s beautiful coastline and enjoy the attractions of the Cape Peninsula.

Cruise along the exquisite stretch of coastline known as Millionaire’s Paradise, from Clifton to Camps Bay, to the exclusive beach hamlet of Llandudno, and on towards the charming harbor of Hout Bay. Here you can opt to hop onto a Seal Island boat cruise (optional). Seal Island is home to a busy seal colony just out of the Hout Bay Harbour; here boats get up close to the seals and you can watch the seals sunning themsleves on the rocks or darting through the water. Seals are playful, adorable and extremely agile in the water.

Back on terra firma, your tour will continue along Chapmans’ Peak Drive, a coastal road that hugs the cliffs and provides breathtaking ocean views, before arriving at your lunch stop, within the wild and beautiful Cape of Good Hope Nature section of the Table Mountain National Park. Here you will take the Funicular rail car almost to the top of the look-out point for spectacular views of the rather famous southern tip of Africa, where legend says the waters of the Indian and the Atlantic Ocean mix.

Meander back towards Cape Town, visiting the naval village of Simon’s Town en route and the charming penguins at Boulders Beach, before arriving back in Cape Town in the early evening.

Day 4

The History of South Africa – This morning, again you head out after breakfast, to gain an insight into South Africa’s tumultuous apartheid history, see modern South Africa’s progress and find out more about the life of a world hero, Nelson Mandela, when you visit Robben Island later in the afternoon.

First you head to the District Six site, which leads to the oldest township called Langa, where a short stroll and a stop at a local Shebeen (pub) and spaza (shop) will give you a brief glimpse into township life. Today you will witness the vast difference in quality of lifestyle by observing different living standards. Yes some of what you might see will shock you, but above all you will see progress – new housing developments and the restoration of housing quarters. From Langa, you move to Khayelitsha, which is the ‘new kid on the block’ and is the largest township in the Western Cape, here large scale developments are taking place, from housing to schools, to shopping malls and clinics with many private organisations making a real difference in people’s lives.

In the afternoon, you will head to the V&A Waterfront, where the ferry for Robben Island departs on a scheduled basis. Head out to Robben Island to discover where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for so many years. It’s a highly charged and emotional journey when you see first-hand the hardship and cruelty.

After the tour, you will return by ferry to the V&A Waterfront, where you will hop back onto your coach for your return transfer to your hotel. At the end of today, you will realize just how far South Africa has come with regards to reconciling her differences and taking the positive road from the dark days of apartheid.

Day 5

Table Mountain Cable Car – This morning after breakfast, you will depart for Table Mountain – weather permitting – and take the cable car to the top of the mountain for awesome views of Cape Town city and her Peninsula. At the top you can enjoy some time walking on her flat top and taking in the views, as well as the adorable rock hyrax (dassies) which can be a little too friendly at times, so don’t feed them….

Back down the mountain and you will be dropped off back at your hotel, with your afternoon at leisure to enjoy Cape Town whichever way you choose this afternoon – perhaps visit the V&A Waterfront, one of Cape Town’s top tourist attractions for shopping, a beautiful Aquarium…. Or visit Long Street and Kloof Street where the shopping is outstanding, and there are many curio vendors and African eclectic arts and shops to enjoy.

Day 6

Cape Town International Airport – This morning you will be collected for your transfer from your hotel to Cape Town International Airport, where you will board your domestic flight from Cape Town to Durban.

On arrival in Durban, you will be warmly welcomed and escorted to your awaiting coach transfer to Zululand in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Zululand is an area of game reserves, awesome bushveld scenery, is the stronghold of the Zulu Kingdom, a wild coastline and some of the highest vegetated dunes in the world.

Your destination is Thula Thula Private Game Reserve, a world acclaimed game lodge, where a legendary herd of elephant, and one man have touched the lives of so many people across the world. Lawrence Anthony, author of ‘The Elephant Whisperer’, an extraordinary story to save a herd of elephant from destruction (now residing on Thula Thula since their arrival in 1999). Lawrence also wrote ‘Babylon’s Ark’, accounting the incredible wartime rescue of the Baghdad Zoo and ‘The Last Rhino’s’ his final book of the powerful story on one man’s battle to save the species. This is a private lodge that is fuelled by the passion of the owners.

Your next three nights will be spent enjoying the wilderness of Africa within Thula Thula in the amazing Safari Luxury Tented Lodge.

Day 7 & 8

Thula Thula Private Game Reserve – The Zulu name Thula Thula literally means peace and tranquility. Enjoy all of Zululand as you learn about Lawrence Anthony’s legacy of conservation, and experience the animals up close and personal as you learn more about nature and the Animal Kingdom than you thought possible.

Day 9

Johannesburg’s Top Tourist Area – This morning, after your final game experience (time permitting) and breakfast, you will be transferred by coach back to Durban’s King Shaka International Airport, for your domestic flight to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport.

On arrival in Johannesburg, you will be warmly greeted and assisted to your coach, where you will transfer to your hotel for overnight. Your hotel is located within one of Johannesburg’s top tourist areas, the city of Sandton. Sandton is a shopping mecca, and your hotel is adjacent to Sandton Square where there are manyshops, restaurants and bars to enjoy.

Day 10

Check Out and optional Flight to Victoria Falls – This morning after breakfast, you will check out of your hotel, and you will be transferred to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport. If you’re coming on the extension,

2 NIGHTS / 3 DAYS ACCOMMODATION IN VICTORIA FALLS

This morning you will arrive into Livingstone, Zambia, gateway to the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side of ‘The Falls’. You will transfer to your hotel for check-in. Later this afternoon you will depart on a sunset cruise of the upper Zambezi River. The sunset cruise is a romantic way to view a passing parade of wildlife, as you have the opportunity to view crocodile and hippo, elephant and the African fish eagle, along with an array of other wildlife, should you be lucky. However this peaceful cruise with abundant natural beauty is very much about the African sunset.

You will return to your hotel after sunset for overnight.

Day 11

This morning after breakfast you will depart on a guided tour of the Victoria Falls. The Zambian side of The Falls, enjoys the ‘Knife Edge Bridge’ which is always a sure ‘hit’ with travellers. Thereafter you will be dropped off back at your hotel for an afternoon at leisure – plan ahead as there are many activities to be enjoyed at The Falls, from exciting heli-flips or micro-lighting above The Falls, quad bike trails and white water rafting. Day 12

Final morning Victoria Falls Airport – On your final morning and once again after a delicious breakfast, you will be transferred back to Victoria Falls Airport for your flight to Johannesburg and your return homeward international flight. Meet your Tour Leader... Carolyn Marie Solton

For HealingNRG founder and Dying to Be Well author Carolyn Marie Solton, the call to healing service is both deeply personal and transformational.

In 2002, Carolyn Marie nearly died in the hands of medical doctors, whose only solutions were drugs and surgery. What should have been a routine surgery went terribly wrong - so wrong that she developed peritonitis and was read her last rites three separate times. Instead of departing from the planet she parted ways with Western medicine. As such, she began to heal. She began to investigate alternative, holistic and spiritual approaches to health and healing. Her own eventual and miraculous recovery was just the beginning of her journey.

Throughout Carolyn’s recovery she continued embracing her passion of travel. She has traveled to over twenty-eight countries and says travel means so much more to her than simply seeing new destinations and learning about new cultures. Travel is a journey within self. Through her years traveling the world she has learned more about who she is and what her purpose is.
